Date: 11th May 2009
Venue: Kimberley

Deccan chargers captain Adam Gilchrist took revenge of Shane Warne's team after he had lost the first match against the latter in IPL 2009. Dwayne Smith top scored for deccan chargers with blistering stroke of 47 of 32 deliveries.

Swapnil Asnodkar top scored for Rajasthan Royals with 47 runs but in vain. Looking at the past experiences of Rajasthan Royals target of 167 was never too difficult.

The most entertaining aspect of the Royals has been the ability of most of their players to play to their individual peaks, and to pull out inspired performances when least likely. Chasing 167, Rajasthan's opening combination of Greame Smith and Swapnil Asnodkar hit another low, as Vaas struck with his first delivery in this edition, trapping Smith lbw for one, before having Lee Carseldine stumped.

His early burst left Rajasthan reeling at 19-2. A surprised decision came when squad was announced that Chaminda Vaas was called in to support the bowling department of Deccan chargers.

An unexpected Rohit Sharma produced 3 wickets which accelerated Deccan Chargers winning chances.

The dugout looked extremely unhappy of Rajasthan Royals as they lost their last wicket in 19.3 overs.

The Chargers batting on the other hand consisted of quick cameos all round and a late adrenalin boost from Dwayne Smith. Vaas entered the IPL and came up with 4-19-2 which was pretty much reflective of the Deccan Chargers bowling.

Dwayne Smith was declared man of the match for his 47 runs knock that included 4 sixes.
