Abhimanyu Mithun first bowled with a leather ball at the age of 17. Three years later in 2009-10, after a successful Ranji debut season, the fast bowler forced his way into the national squad for the Test series against South Africa. At 6' 2", this tall strong quickie uses his height to increase the effectiveness of his favourite weapon, the bouncer. He relies heavily on his pace, which is what caught the eye of coach Ray Jennings during the Royal Challengers Bangalore trials before IPL 2009. He didn't make much of a splash in IPL 2009, but he was the highest wicket-taker in the 2009-10 Ranji season powering Karnataka to their first finals in more than a decade.
