One of the very few players who have had the distinction of winning caps of two international cricket teams, the 23-year-old Irish-born Eoin Morgan appeared in 23 matches for Ireland, before taking up the chance to play for England.
With a bold approach to batting, Morgan isn't as flamboyant as left-handers generally are, but a compact batsman capable of turning on the heat when required. The 23-year-old, who was the only Englishman to be signed up at the IPL Auction 2010, Morgan is a good student of the game. That, combined with his stroke-making abilities, has helped establish him as a good 'finisher' for England.
Though his numbers in first-class cricket and domestic limited overs cricket aren't too flattering, Morgan is seen as someone with a lot of promise and who can go on to become an integral fixture in the England team.
Morgan's signing by the Royal Challengers Bangalore came as a surprise to many, but one finds that a lot of thought has gone into his signing. There aren't too many left-hand batsmen in the RCB's set-up and hence Morgan immediately offers the team management with variety.
Given the likes of Kevin Pietersen and Ross Taylor will not be available for a significant part of the tournament, Morgan can expect a decent run with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2010.
