Jacob Oram is the kind of cricketer one would die to be. Six and a half feet tall, Oram is the complete all-rounder; he can make it into any XI on the basis of either of his skills - batting or bowling. With the bat in hand, he can be destructive and change the course of the game single-handedly. He has hit over 100 sixes in international cricket, and strikes at 142 runs per 100 balls in the 20-over format.
His batting is very well complemented by his disciplined medium-pace bowling, and stump-to-stump lines. On the field too, he is very athletic and is a very safe catcher.
Bought by the Chennai Super Kings at $675,000 Oram hasn't quite lived up to his reputation of being a match-winner; he hardly scored a few runs, only managing 106 runs in the first two seasons of the league, and was disappointing with the ball too. Having retired from Test cricket in 2009, he will use all his energy reserves to find success in IPL 2009.
