Jacques Kallis tried to heave Pragyan Ojha over the top but ended up holing out to Sumanth at long on. No alarm bells for Bangalore yet.
Ryan Harris struck with his first ball to pack off Manish Pandey for a golden duck. This is not the kind of start Bangalore needed.
Andrew Symonds has broken through, sending off Rahul Dravid back in the hut for 49. Bangalore are still in the hunt.
Hyderabad are 151 six
Rohit Sharma cracked a fifty and Monish Mishra chipped in with 41 to lead Hyderabad's revival after Dale Steyn had rocked the boat with three early wickets. Bangalore now have a job to do.
Dale Styen rattled Hyderabad, packing off Adam Gilchrist and T Suman off successive deliveries before cleaning up Gibbs.
Gilchrist edged a Dale Steyn delivery to wicketkeeper Robin Uthappa while Suman found Steyn's pace too hot to handle and was caught by Ross Taylor.
Gibbs was beaten by Steyn's pace and had no clue about the ball going past his bat to hit the stumps.
Monish Mishra got involved in a terrible misunderstanding with Rohit Sharma and was miles short of his crease when Uthappa whipped the bails of at the striker's end.
Monish and Rohit Sharma bailed Hyderabad out of early danger and resurrected the innings with a strong partnership.
Anil Kumble had Andrew Symonds stumped just when he had started to tear into the Bangalore attack while Rohit Sharma fell to Vinay Kumar after a compact fifty.
The Toss
Bangalore have won the toss and elected to bowl first against Hyderabad. Anil Kumble is banking on his side's ability to chase well.
Team Updates
Herschelle Gibbs is back for Hyderabad, replacing Dwayne Smith while Sriram and Praveen Kumar make way for Apanna and Manish Pandey.
Brief Preview
Adam Gilchrist has not fired and Hyderabad have not played at home, given the political tension in Andhra Pradesh, resulting in a rather shoddy showing in the third edition of the Indian Premier League.
Things have now come to a pass, where the team is now placed at seventh and must win against second placed Bangalore tonight to keep alive their hopes of a semi-final berth.
However, it will not be easy. Bangalore struggled a little after getting off to a strong start to their campaign but pulled things back with a convincing seven wicket win against Kolkata. Anil Kumble has yet again been inspirational as captain and the rest of the bowlers have been on a roll. Dale Steyn has bowled with speed and venom while young Vinay Kumar has been a revelation.
The batting is in good hands with old hand Jacques Kallis in superb form. Robin Uthappa and Virat Kohli have been the stars in the middle over while Rahul Dravid, who did not get a lot of chance to bat in the middle order showed his class in the side's win against Kolkata.
